Happy Hot Hot Summer!
I just returned from amazing Australia this past Friday night… And….I am now engaged to Melissa!!
I asked her Dad permission the first day I was there, as he was showing me his property and work shed. Later that day after lunch, Melissa and I went up to Towers Hill in her home town of Charters Towers, Queensland Australia, and I “popped the question!” and she said, “Yes, I would love to marry you!!”
We had a wonderful week with her family and then the second week was spent with her friends mostly in Cairns, including wild life park, snorkelling, rainforest hike and an aquarium visit.
I wanted to also add to my last blog story of when Melissa and I were first dating. What did happen next by the way?
The next thing that I did was stalk her Facebook and call her over and over again with out leaving voicemails. Ha! Actually I did NOT do that. But, I have done that years ago, and its not a good idea!
Then, on December 8th, so about a month after our concert, we went for a walk around the Sundial Bridge. I then asked her if she wanted to have dinner and she said yes.
I was thinking that I wanted to tell her something that would be a statement. I wanted her to know that I was interested in her. And I wanted to be straight forward, to the point and very clear. I had been practicing it in my mind and feeling nervous and also feeling desire to say it. When would I say it? What if I told her right now and she said no? Would we still have dinner? Would that be awkward or what?!
I parked the car in the parking garage along California street and while we were walking to the restaurant, I told Melissa, ” I would like to pursue a dating relationship with you.” She took that in and responded with, ” I’m not ready to date you but I would like to get to know you more.” I was OK with that. It wasn’t the answer I had wanted because I was ready to date her after being friends for a year, but I was also OK with it. She didn’t reject me or make it awkward.
Did we still have dinner after that? Yes we did. She also told me that if her heart changed and she became interested in me, that she would tell me. She said that change of heart had happened in the past and that it was a possibility with me. We had a good time. I even took a selfie with her in the restaurant. Can you believe the nerve to do such a thing!? Laugh out loud!
Who are you pursuing? If not, why not?
And now for a completely different subject…Are you doing anything adventurous this summer with your buddies? Because, man, you’ve got to get out and enjoy the great outdoors! I’d love to hear your stories!
Until next time,
